| okay, in reading through the Festival Vancouver brochure this year I saw an ad for Christ Church Cathedral downtown. Direct quote: "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, Come before his/her presence with- song, dance, poetry, drama, comedy, chamber music, gospel concerts, organ recitals, lectures and much more" Does anyone ELSE see a problem with this?! Yikes! | | |
| Beautiful Saviour with beautiful grace; Standing in awe of your beautiful face, I seek to know why, to know how, to know when. so many questions I ask yet again. As the lies overwhelm and the fear closes in, my heart ever breaking- still shamed by my sin; Just what do you ask of me? what will it cost to finally be free? Merciful Saviour I bow at your feet, humble myself in this place where we meet. So many words that I just can't express as the tears start to fall and I have to confess. But how many times must I pray the same prayer until once and for all I can see you were there? Lord, what do you ask of me? what will it cost to finally be free?

| Lots of things are going on these days...all sorts of exciting changes. But! today I got to meet my new Little Sister, Eryn. She's adorable! Smallish and very 8-and-a-half looking. She was kind of shy at first, not really making eye-contact with me or anything...but after a while she started talking more and we went over the ground rules with the counsellor and her family. Then she took me to see her room: purple with perpendicular bunk beds (for sleepovers) and puppy posters and a whole shelf of My Little Ponies. After that they sent us out for a walk to talk and decide what our first "official" outing will be. She skipped ahead a ways, waited for me to catch up, and chattered on non-stop once we left the driveway. When we got to the field at the school down the street, there were dandilions everywhere and she picked a fuzzy one and asked me if I knew that you could wish on them. "That's what they say," I told her...so she stopped and shut her eyes, pausing just briefly before blowing half the top off in one breath. Then she holds it out to me and says "here~ there's half left for your wish too!" So cute! We decided on our first outing: a park on the other side of town from her house and ice cream if it's a nice day: and headed back, asking each other various random questions along the way. All in all, it wasn't bad- we seemed to get along, she's a sweet girl and even though I was told she's got some challenges that result in defiant behaviour, I didn't see any evidence of that right off the bat. She did make a few bold statements about her circumstances right up front once we were alone, telling me "I'm only going to say it once so that you know, but that's it..." and so I guess she's got some spunk in her that could be a challenge at some point...but my first impressions are that this is a perfect match. We're both pretty excited and happy about it all, and I think we're going to get along just fine! | | |
| Jokes from the pulpit: do you ever sit in church and notice the segregated chuckles of those around you? Our pastor makes a crack that "the 10 commandments" won't be at blockbuster, but rather in the public library archives on Beta Max, and 55% of the congregation kinda laughs. Then later in the same service (due hearing his teen/preteen kids talk and such) he makes a side comment that comes straight out of "highschool musical" and 55% of the congregation kinda laughs. And then you realize that you're in that 5% of overlap between the groups- you are no longer "young" and yet you're not considered "old" either... Such a strange phase of life. Today, being Easter, I sat up front at the theatre with Cara (the other keyboard player who was on today) and randomly 2 other teen girls came and joined me there... The other night at a different church event I sat near the back (of the 4 rows at the MC, it's not much of a distinction from the front) and 2 middle-aged women came and sat with me, one of whom is the mother of one of the girls I sat with today. I am SO stuck in the middle right now. It makes me laugh. :) | | |
